Vetoquinol Enzadent Enzymatic Toothpaste for Cats
So, you went to the vet and got your cat’s teeth cleaned. Well that is what I did. With a little discussion on maintenance. UGH… “Need to brush their teeth.” With a bit of a push back, I informed her that with red gums I don’t see that this is possible.
She told me to use a piece of gauze and gently rub the gums and teeth. But I tried that and it caused bleeding. Still I knew that I had to figure out a solution. Regular gauze is too abrasive on their delicate gum tissues. Happened to have had a bunch of Avant Gauze non-woven drain sponges left over from post-op surgery. They are so finely woven. Was able to pull them apart and make 16 strips to use in their tiny mouths. There are tiny brushes for cats and even finger brushes that can be used.
When dealing with inflamed gums you just have to be extra careful, especially if you don’t want them to hide or take a nip out of you every time you play dentist.
