No Longer a Kitten
September 2021

Lucy sliding into tissue paper.
Hard to believe Lucy celebrated her first birthday on 9-17-2021. We brought her home exactly 8 months ago. Two-thirds of her short life, has been with us. Sad when they start to get bigger and not a cute little bundle of fur as when you bring them home. We all know baby animals are so adorably cute, hard to resist. She was such a tiny little kitten, just a handful. Home coming.
And if you’re familiar with Siamese, you know they never quite grow up. Now she is still a handful of mischief. Do love every minute of it… well maybe not sometimes as you can read below. But keeping them healthy and inspired with fun things to do, they can bring you hours of laughter and joy.
She has graced our home with laughter and love. A happy, comical cat, and also mischievous.
Journey of a Cat’s Private Chef
August 2021

Lily hanging out on the cat tree.
Lily and Lucy both have red gums. There has been improvement since I first started on this quest. Lily’s breath improved. Their coat is silkier. Still, there wasn’t enough progress.
By appointment time for both cats, I made a recent purchase of cat food. Ugh.
The Cat Toy Destruction
July 2021

Lucy and the end of the pink ball.
Saved many cat toys over the years. They received mild abuse, but most never used.
Then Lily joined us 8 months ago and Lucy 6 ½ months.
I dragged them out of boxes stored from our move 6 years ago. Our then 10-year-old Molly only played with a few. No point in having them scattered on the floor when she wasn’t interested. Continue reading
Lucy Gets Spayed
June 2021

Lucy in e-collar after spaying.
Being a responsible cat parent, you know spaying has to be done. But risk of anesthesia is always present. Words pound in your brain, “Everyday across the world hundreds of pets are being altered.”
The troubling part is, you have a special connection to your furry little family member, it becomes a personal thing. As with Lily, I tried to keep busy. Ready to drop whatever I was doing to go get her asap. You want to rescue them from the scary place of unknown smells and sounds. And let them know you haven’t abandoned them.
Injection for pain
They gave her an injection of Buprenorphine-SR, a slow-release medication for pain. It lasts for 3 days, and it could disorient her during the duration. A few times when sitting she fell over, sad to see her listless.
Rodent Killers
June 2021

Lucy “Little Tornado”
You’d think that an animal with the scientific name of “Felis catus”, might just have killer instincts.
Years ago, presented with an embarrassing statement of proclaiming… “No self-respecting mouse would dare enter my house with 5 cats.” A few days later, a mouse scurried across my living room floor.
Devastated that at least one of the five wasn’t in hot pursuit. Nope. They ignored the intruder. Cat dialogue; “He’s been here a while. Besides, he doesn’t eat much.”
My first cat was a fierce hunter. Taking down birds, mice, gophers, and even a pet rat that escaped. It was white, so I’m sure it once was a pet.
