Lysine an Alternative

With a runny nose and one watery eye, the vet suggested Lucy take Lysine.

Interesting, as I thought we were in for a round of antibiotics. A refreshing alternative. Advocate for vitamins and minerals as a decent cure for what ails you or a pet.

Much prefer a drugless solution. Drugs are not a natural substance found in our systems. I doubt anyone is ever lacking in aspirin. Yes, it helps. But if the cause of  ailments is a lack of a vitamin or a mineral, doesn’t it make more sense to fill the void?

Holly, the cat with asthma

Let’s face it. This is never a pleasant subject. But our little 4-legged family members will not be with us forever.

I have been on many roller coasters of tragic endings. One cat having died after major surgery; her blood didn’t clot (4 1/2 years). One from kidney failure, within days of diagnosis (11 years old). One cat in the middle of the night from an asthma attack. We were working with a specialist to help manage her problem.  (She died the day before her 7th birthday). Continue reading

Is your cat sleeping more than usual and packing on the pounds?

Time to make note of the waking hour activities. Is he/she begging for food or listless most of the time?

Bored cats use food to fill the boredom.

Challenge your cat’s mind with interactive toys. Even just a new toy with unfamiliar smells will stimulate their curiosity.

Cats love to explore empty boxes. Continue reading
