12 Days of A Cat Christmas Song
Okay so this is my version of the 12 Days of Christmas Song. You all know it goes with a long emphasis on the “Five” line.
If you want to have fun just sing it out until your heart is content. My partridge is a Siamese… LOL
Review on Cat Sparkle Toy Balls

Lily checking out the new supply of sparkle balls
My cats have loved the sparkle balls I got years ago from a fabric store.
My first introduction to the sparkle balls was in a cat toy Christmas stocking. They self-destructed in days. Hence, the hunting expedition for a suitable substitute. The 48 balls survived the ravages of energetic cat play for years. Now only 27 remained.
What happened to the other 21? Not sure. The vacuum cleaner may have gobbled up a few. A litter box casualty that got buried. Didn’t get scooped because it was washing day for the litter boxes.
There were 3 larger ones that Lily liked. They are missing. One escaped outside, must have got kicked out when we opened the backdoor. Are they under the washer, freezer, or dropped behind the bookshelf? For now, the 3 are MIA.

Holly, the cat with asthma
Let’s face it. This is never a pleasant subject. But our little 4-legged family members will not be with us forever.
Some are taken too soon and others live a long, happy, healthy life.
I have been on many roller coasters of tragic endings. One cat having died after major surgery; her blood didn’t clot (4 1/2 years). One from kidney failure, within days of diagnosis (11 years old). One cat in the middle of the night from an asthma attack. We were working with a specialist to help manage her problem. (She died the day before her 7th birthday). Continue reading

Picking The Right Cat

Morning R & R
.
How to know which cat to adopt.
This can be easy or difficult.
Cats can have unique personalities. Some are in your face and purring. Others are aloof.
The question is, if you choose the wrong one… will it change? Perhaps. Some can be an actual challenge.
Nice if they were the perfect fit for your lifestyle.

How to improve the odds for that perfect cat.
First, decide if you want a male or female. Reminder, an altered cat is happier and healthier. The earlier the altering, the better for you and your pet. Males will have less desire to wander and less aggression. Females won’t go into heat and be more content.
I’m an advocate for indoor only cats. Only exception are barn cats, they catch mice. Confined indoors their entire life isn’t an issue. In fact, they will most likely live longer. No interaction with other cats that may have fleas, diseases, and no cat fights. No worries of attacks by other wildlife or hit by a vehicle. Continue reading
